Park Schloss Hohenheim
04/01/2021
The gardens of Hohenheim Castle are a popular attraction to the south of Stuttgart. Majestic trees, beautiful lakes and a wide variety of plant species create regal gardens covering an area of almost 35 hectares.
The early years
Installation dates back to the 18th century: From 1776 to 1793, Duke Carl Eugen of Württemberg ordered the transformation of a 21-hectare site into an English style landscape park. Today, the park consists of botanical gardens and the Landesarboretum – an exotic landscaped garden showcasing horticulturally interesting trees.
Thousands of plants as well as varieties of deciduous trees and conifers are still used for teaching and education purposes for university and college students, and students from Hohenheim horticultural school.
Access
The site is open to the public and is worth a visit all year round.
Hohenheim Gardens are around half an hour from the Liederhalle by rail or bus. You can check out the quickest route on www.vvs.de.
